Alba Nadal was born in Zaragoza and brought up in Catalonia, first with Olga Roig in Manresa and later on, at Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. She travelled to Madrid at the young age of twelve to continue with Victor Ullate, and finished her formation at the Royal Ballet in London. Since 2004 until 2019 she danced with the Royal Danish Ballet and now she is soloist at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe under the leadership of Bridget Breiner.

Dance for Alba

Dance for me means everything. The joy of pure movement, the body feeling the rhythm of the music and to really let go. To Dance like nobody is watching and let your own creativity, your inner child fly free without judgement. Dance has given me a lot. It is very demanding but generous at the same time if you work and you are honest with yourself. On stage it is only you, your soul, your technique and your honesty as an artist. You can't lie. That's the beauty of my profession, there is always a never ending exploration of one self, and dance makes me face with the real me every day. The ups and downs of life, politics, injuries, competitiveness, extreme ambition, are elements that surrounds this profession, but are always overcome with the pure feeling of what dance is all about.

La dansa

La dansa significa tot per a mi. El goig pur del moviment, el cos sentint el ritme de la música i deixar-te portar per ella. Ballar com si ningú t’estigués mirant deixant la teva creativitat i el teu nen intern volar lliure, sense judicis. La dansa m’ha donat molt en la meva vida. És altament exigent, però generosa si treballes i ets honest amb tu mateix. A l’escenari només estàs tu, la teva ànima, la teva tècnica i la teva honestedat com artista. No pots mentir. Aquesta és la bellesa de la meva professió, on hi ha una continua exploració d’un mateix, i la dansa m’obliga a descobrir cada dia qui sóc realment. Els alts i baixos de la vida, la política, les lesions, la competitivitat i l’extrema ambició, són elements que formen irremeiablement part d’aquesta professió, però que queden en segon terme davant el sentiment pur del que realment és la dansa.

La danza

La danza significa todo para mí. El gozo puro del movimiento, el cuerpo sintiendo el ritmo de la música y dejarte llevar por ella. Bailar como si nadie te estuviera mirando dejando tu creatividad y tu niño interno volar libre, sin juicios. La danza me ha dado mucho en mi vida. Es altamente exigente, pero generosa si trabajas y eres honesto contigo mismo. En el escenario sólo estás tú, tu alma, tu técnica y tu honestidad como artista. No puedes mentir. Esta es la belleza de mi profesión, donde hay una continua exploración de uno mismo, y la danza me obliga a descubrir cada día quién soy realmente. Los altibajos de la vida, la política, las lesiones, la competitividad y la extrema ambición, son elementos que forman irremediablemente parte de esta profesión, pero que quedan en segundo plano ante el sentimiento puro de lo que realmente es la danza.

Dance has always been the force that has driven me to all my adventures and get through life challenges. Dance is my element which motivates my constant research to keep growing in this art form as well as a human being. Dance is love, the place where I am daily rediscovering myself and home to many feelings, struggles, questions and joy. “ Home is where the heart is” as once I heard in one of Ramon Mirabet’s song. My heart , passion and love have always been and are where dance is alive..
